What version of InDesign do these templates work with??

InDesign CS4 and upwards. If you have a special request for a template in an older version of InDesign, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we can help you out.

How do I open my template file?

Your template is in a compressed (.zip) file. Extract the files to the folder of your choice.
You can double-click the file that ends in .indt, or you can open InDesign, go to “File->New -> Document From Template”. This will open Adobe Bridge, where you can browse for your template file.

Why is there a “Fonts” folder with my template?

It is only necessary to install these fonts if InDesign tells you that you are missing fonts when you open your template
Fonts are included with your templates in case your computer does not have the template fonts installed, which may distort the proportions or style of the template.

How do I install the fonts which come with my template?

It is only necessary to install these fonts if InDesign tells you that you are missing fonts when you open your template
You can place all fonts in your Adobe InDesign -> Fonts directory for use with InDesign only.
This is the most simple process.

Why is InDesign telling me there are fonts missing?

Did you install the fonts on your package?
If you have done this and InDesign is still causing you problems with fonts, I suggest you change them. Go to Type -> Find Font. From here, you can click on the missing font, choose a replacement font, and choose “replace all”. This will replace all of the problematic font with your choice of a replacement font.
If your fonts are still not working, don’t fuss too much. These are merely templates, and you should customize all fonts to fit your own needs.

Why is there a “Links” folder with my template?

Many templates will include a “Links” folder.
The “Links” folder is where all of the stock logos and images are located. They are provided so you can view high-resolution previews of your templates.
It may be necessary to re-link your images when you first open your template. This can be done by going to the Links panel in InDesign, and clicking “re-link all links” (it looks like a broken chain). Then you must browse for the included “Links” folder on your computer.
If these links are still not working, don’t fuss too much. These are merely templates, and you should customize all images to fit your own needs.

Why isn’t a “Links” folder included in my template?

If there is no “Links” folder included in your template, all links are embedded within the file. This is because it is simpler to include fewer files in your packages.
Remember, these are merely templates. You should customize all images to suit your own needs before any publication.

I replaced the template’s stock images with my own. Can I print my document now?

You should check to make sure that your images are all 300 PPI (pixels per inch). This is standard printing resolution. Your images will be pixelated if you try to print a standard web image (72 PPI). Ensure to use high quality, high resolution images before taking your documents to the press.

Where are the guides? Where are the text and image boxes?

Try pressing “W” when you have nothing selected. This toggles between preview mode and layout (normal) mode.
If this is not the issue, click “View -> Grids & Guides -> Show Guides”
Still no luck? Go to the “Layers” panel, and ensure that all layers are visible. If they are visible, they will have a small “eye” icon beside them. If there is no icon, click on the small empty box.
